John McInerney

Nurse Practioner

As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring more than two decades of nursing experience across diverse clinical settings, including intensive care, surgical environments, and psychiatric care. After proudly serving 20 years in the U.S. Army, I retired from active duty and transitioned my focus to advancing mental health treatment for individuals from all walks of life. My military background has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans and their families, as well as an appreciation for resilience, service, and recovery.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University in 2005 and my Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 2019. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping patients navigate complex medication management and mental health needs with compassion and precision.

My approach to care is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe effective treatment begins with truly listening to each person’s story, understanding their goals, and developing a plan that integrates both evidence-based medicine and individualized care. I strive to create a supportive environment where patients feel safe, heard, and empowered to take an active role in their healing.

Having deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, I carry a strong commitment to serving those who have served, while also valuing the diversity of experiences and backgrounds each patient brings. Whether working with veterans or civilians, I’m dedicated to promoting mental wellness, resilience, and balance in everyday life.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children, skiing, hiking in the Colorado mountains, and assisting as a youth wrestling coach. These activities keep me grounded and remind me daily of the importance of connection, community, and purpose.
