Maddie McKinlay

Masters Level Intern

I am beyond thrilled to join the Lokiten team as a UCCS MSW student and intern!

I currently live in Boulder, Colorado, and as such will be providing services virtually while I finish my last year in the graduate program. I have experience working as a case manager, homeless outreach team member, student, childcare provider, and human-being. A small handful of areas important to me include, but are not limited to, LGBTQIA+ issues, addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, group work, and life transitions. I pride myself in my ability to meet all clients where they are at regardless of their past. Additionally, I prefer to follow client-centered approaches as we work together to define goals, progress, and what it means to feel uniquely fulfilled in therapy.

As someone who is committed to my own therapeutic journey, I know first-hand the uncertainties, nerves, and excitement that proceeds entering therapy for the first time, or even returning as a previous client. With this, I value fostering a safe, supporting, and judgement-free space for all my clients.

While away from the computer, you can find me digging through thrift shops, aquascaping, getting lost in the woods, trying an obscure new craft, or petting the neighborhood cat. I am so excited to diversify my knowledge of behavior health practices through my time here at Lokiten Behavioral Health and I look forward to working with you!
